Pick a point!

Okay, okay, I hear you. Izzy Lingard from Izzy, Willy Nilly by Cynthia Voight is a fictional character. But she's gone through some tough times, and I thought it would be good for you to have an oppurtunity to compare a fictional character's story to the other two stories on this site.

Isobel Lingard is nice. That's all. Nothing particularly special. Popular, good enough student, rather pretty. So when Marco Griggers, a flirtatious senior, asks her out to a senior party, Izzy jumps at the chance, despite her parents' disapproval. Little did she know that Marco would become drunk - drive to fast on the way home - conk out - hit a tree. When all's said and done, Izzy is left with only a leg and a half - her right leg has been cut off below the knee.

Disregarding the pain, Izzy suffers other problems. The biggest is depression. When ever she's alone, her mind slips into 'grayness'. Plus, her old friends seem to care little about her anymore. They don't know how to react to Izzy, and aren't sure if she's still 'popular' enough to hang out with.

But it isn't all tough times. There's Rosamunde, a friend Izzy didn't know she had, but sticks up for Izzy despite everything. Izzy learns everything over, and finds out her old life wasn't all she thought it was. She even begins to see her friends ina new light.

How does Izzy's story compare to the others? It's different, but not unrealistic. Physical training, which taught Izzy how to take care of herself, is a big part of all three stories. Both Missy and Izzy were in accidents. By amazing coincidence, Kelly and Izzy are both missing the same part of their right leg. Whichever person, they're all courageous, and they're all doing big things.

By the way, who decided to call it a 'disability'? Not that fitting if you ask me.
